BUSINESS PROFILE:
Elsworth Creative supplies limited edition fine art print
and sculptures from its listed artists. In addition to this we design and
manage various art and media based projects.
Born in northern
England, Deena has worked for 15 years as a freelance theatre designer. In
recent years she met her mentor David Vaughan (60's psychodelia artist) who
gave her the motivation to concentrate more fully on her career as an artist.
She lives presently in Saddleworth, an artists enclave.
Spending
much of her time in her studio,and currently and with typical timing, after
decorating her present studio has aquired another massive loft apartment /
gallery on the same site has started, yet again, to renovate the top floor of
the three hundred year old mill.
Surrounded by water, trees and
inspiration for the soul, and working soon between here and France, she hopes
to develop an audience in the US and Britain which she feels will be empathic
to the spirituality of the work she produces.
She lives in
extremes; stone walls, moss growing on the windows and only cold water, yet
her studio is a mixture of practical space and colourful bohemian comfort. She
has all she needs but would like a shower….but when you have time who
needs instant hot water, bathing become a ritual that we used to follow in the
times of the tin bath. Nothing is rushed and nothing taken for granted.
On the whole her work could be described as Outsider Art,
preferring her stimulus to come from the emotional and spiritual rather than
visual aspects of life. Tinged with wry humour if you look closely, angry
sometimes, emotional and often slightly strange, her style cant be classified
as it is so diverse.
Abstract landscape to pop art, all is
relevant to development '… as the mood takes her…' so to speak. At
present she has a fascination with intense dreams and the portrayal of the
content, some of which have produced changes of direction in her life.
‘'I feel we have the mental capacity for much more than we allow ourselves
to believe, so when the door opens a touch and something comes through I just
accept it as meant to be and reproduce it for future reference.''
