Welcome to Sweet Mandarin.
Sweet Mandarin
is a new and exciting Pan Asian restaurant which opened 2nd November
2004.
Opening times:
Lunch 12pm - 2.30pm (Tues - Sat). Dinner
5pm - 11pm (Tues - Sun). |

The concept of Sweet
Mandarin is based on a simple theme: quick service, delicious oriental and
pan asian food and most importantly value for money.
Sweet
Mandarin will capture the modern Chinese cuisine within a trendy setting
accompanied by an array of mouthwatering cocktails, alcoholic beverages and
smoothies. We will blend the cultures of the West with the East to create a
brand new concept in UK. Our aim is to make eating and drinking a fun, funky,
freestyle event.
This brand-new Northern Quarter Chinese is
contemporary in both décor and cuisine. Housed in a purpose-built
location below a block of newly built residential apartments, you can expect
wall-to-ceiling glass, eyecatching furniture and art, white walls, and subtle
neon lighting.
Sweet Mandarin is the brainchild of three
successful sisters with a passion for food and a pedigree in the industry. Like
the owners, the cuisine here is young and vibrant and different from the
old-school Anglo-Cantonese fare that you might be accustomed to.
Unusual offerings like Firecracker chicken and
Wambamboo are offset by modern presentation with funky cutlery and
glassware. Prices are below average in line with the owners’ ethos of
making their food accessible to all.
The bar is licensed for
non-diners and serves Hong Kong delicacies like Bubble teas, world beers such
as Lef and a fantastic selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails
– try the real snake blood cocktail which is 70% proof.
Last
word on the name, which was chosen through a competition with a
£2,000 prize. Sweet Mandarin ticked all the boxes for the sisters and was
particularly relevant as their grandfather worked in the restaurant at Hong
Kong’s famous Mandarin Hotel.
