Business Law Licencees need to
take positive action now to "convert" existing/"old" style licences to "new"
style licence and not leave things until a later date. There is likely to be a
backlog of applications and failure to obtain the correct "new" licences for
your business could result in it being closed down until the correct
documentation has been obtained. This is due to the significant changes to the
Licensing Act from 7th February 2005.
Personal Law There is a
clear tendency not to blame pedestrians walking or crossing the road for
accidents! The case of Carpenter v Lunnon November 2004, in which a
person walking along a country lane at night, with his back to the traffic,
wearing dark clothing was held only 20% liable when a car hit him.
